The Pacifica Salud Hospital relies on a Quality Improvement and Infections Control Department/Division.
Since our beginnings, we have been the leading hospital institution in topics such as patient`s security, implementation of processes that continually improve of Quality and the activities to prevent infections.
In 2006, the hospital led the implementation of International Goals (Standards) of Patient`s
Security and as of today, it uses them as part of all patient`s care processes.
Patient`s security international goals:
Consist mainly in simple actions that are applied daily and at all times, at the time any patient`s is to receive attention in the hospital.
Below the detail:
Goal 1: Correct patient identification:
It prevents confusions and avoids performing medical procedures to the incorrect patient. Failure to correctly identify the patient is directly related to error that has harmed the patients before.
Goal 2: Effective Communication:
It guarantees that the people in care of the patient obtain the correct and precise information to successfully take care of the patient.
Goal 3: Improve security when using his risk prescription drugs:
It ensures that in high dreadful moments, confusion, or extreme urgency, highly concentrated prescription drugs are used correctly, more when the sometimes come in physically similar packages.
Goal 4: Security PROTOCOL (correct patient, correct procedure, correct place):
This protocol ensures right before the patient`s surgery, that all members of the team checks the correct patient, the correct procedure, in the right place, avoiding mistakes that can have adverse repercussions.
Goal 5: Decrease the risk of getting nosocomial infections:
Reduces the probabilities of the patient getting infections inside the hospital that are unrelated to the patient`s condition, causing him/her prolong the stay at the hospital.
Goal 6: Reduce the risk of patient`s falls in the hospital:
Alerts the health team members, through medical evaluations, and practical measures, about the risk of a patient falling in the hospital due to this general health condition.
